YukonTerritory

Yukon Territory

The Yukon Territory is the westernmost political division of northern Canada; it lies north of the Province of British Columbia, east of the State of Alaska, and west of the NorthwestTerritories | Northwest Territories]. It does not yet have the status of a Province within Canada, and has a population slightly in excess of 30,000.

The Yukon Territory first became famous during the period of the great Gold Rushes of the late nineteenth century, when gold was discovered in August 1896 in the Klondike River region of the territory.
