J. Malcolm "Mac" McDougall operated Malamak Kennels in Ste. Agathe des Monts, Quebec, in the Laurentians. McDougall acquired pure Seppala stock from J. D. McFaul, including two bitches for which he must have paid dearly. He bred Seppalas for about ten years starting in 1959.
"Mac" raced his Seppalas and gradually became such an avid competitor that in the end he switched to Alaskan huskies. He was one of the founders of the International Sled Dog Racing Association.
