Distinct Breed
Distinct breed is a technical term found in the Animal Pedigree Act of Canada, used to refer to an animal breed that is regarded as purebred within the terms of the Act, and is registered by a recognised Animal Pedigree Association. The Act distinguishes between a distinct breed that is purebred and registered, and an "evolving breed" which is still in process of development, is not regarded as purebred, and whose members are "identified" rather than registered.
